[02:20] So far, so good. Now, what did Dr. Doolittle want to do with the animals more than anything
[02:26] else? Alvin? He wanted it. And who promised to teach him how to talk to the animals, Simon?
[02:34] Polynesia, the pepper. Okay. Now, Theodore, do you think you remembered
[02:40] the song the doctor sang? Sure, if you help me.
[02:44] Okay, Theodore, I'll start it out for you. If I could talk to the animals, just imagine
[02:52] me chatting with a chimp in chimpanzee. Imagine talking to a tiger, chatting with a cheetah.
[03:01] What a neat achievement it would be if we could talk to the animals, learn their life.
[03:28] If people asked me, can you speak rhinoceros? If I conferred with our furry friends, men
[03:40] to animals, think of the amazing repartee. If I could walk with the animals, talk with
[03:48] the animals, grunt and sweet, and strut with the animals, and they could talk to me.
[04:01] If I consulted with quadrupeds, think what fun we'd have, asking over crocodiles for
[04:07] tea, or maybe lunch with two or three lions, walruses and sea lions. What a lovely place
[04:14] the world would be if I spoke sign to orangutans. If I were asked to sing in hippopotamus, if
[04:49] I could parlay with pachyderms, it's a fairytale worthy of hands, Anderson or Grimm. A man
[04:57] who walks with the animals, talks with the animals, grunts and sweeps and sluts with
[05:04] the animals. To him, I'd study every living creature's language. If friends said, can
[05:22] he talk in crab or pelican, if I could walk with the animals, talk with the animals,
[05:42] grunt and sweet, and strut with the animals. To me, I understand that's enough.
[05:58] And well, we're off on Better Living Through Show Tunes. I am your host for the next approximately
[06:06] 55 minutes. My name is Kirk Stantis, and I want to thank, first off, I'd like to get
[06:11] my thanks out of the way. I'd like to thank my producer, Bonnie, very much for helping
[06:14] me put together today's show. And we just keep moving on. It is about animals today.
[06:21] I have a cat who also is my producer, Charlie. He's very, very good. He talks a lot, and
[06:27] he tells me what to do. The voices in my head are gone, and now that my cat tells me what
[06:33] to do. So we're going to keep going with animals on stage is our theme today. I hope
[06:37] we have some fun with it. I hope you enjoy it too. On this little cloudy Sunday, but
[06:42] at least it's not Armageddon pouring rain. So I think we'll get through. So all about
[06:48] birds, I mean, all about animals or shows with animals in their title. So let's keep
[06:53] going and we'll get from Man of La Mancha, one of my favorite shows. And this is Little
[06:59] Bird and we'll play some others after that.
[07:40] Little Bird, little bird, in a manch where, last night he said good little bird, little
[08:19] bird, on me waited to little bird, little bird in the bark of a tree that imprisoned
[09:41] inside was a butterfly. Butterfly trembled. His delicate wings were all crumbled and
[11:06] I had made him I was strong no wonder of so he died in my
[11:30] by the will
[11:34] not of God
[11:36] but of man
[12:45] All who knows
[13:34] One thing I got I got positive to pay I got pause walk with a wiggle in my water cuz once you
[13:51] Heard that word there ain't nothing you can't do
[13:55] So let that positivity work for you
[13:58] positivity
[13:59] Why there's no such word. Of course there is in the dictionary right between popsicle and prehistoric. Believe you me
[14:06] I seen it work miracles
[14:09] He's a schmo and he's a schlep. Yeah, and this one doesn't got the sharpest rep
[14:14] In fact all three without a doubt miss the day that brains wind it out
[14:19] What if he's no sage and he's no is the whole world thinks that we are geniuses cuz all our screws
[14:25] Maybe I'm true
[14:28] We got positivity
[14:32] We got
[14:33] Try knowledge in the noodle and once you learn that we're sitting in a positro city
[14:49] Who's it?
[14:52] Ariel don't take advice from bird brains bird brains who you call it bird brains
[14:56] We got natural talent what I like to call go
[15:00] ability
[15:15] And there's you just sitting there down flat upon your dairy air. Hey, that's the way you wanna be
[15:30] Well, you might as well be shrubbery
[15:32] And take it from my seagull that's positivity from Disney's a little mermaid
[17:14] You got to be has some positivity in your life today
[17:17] That's for sure and from now on because you know, you know, otherwise you're just gonna be frowning more than your smile
[17:22] And before that we heard from Zorba the Broadway revival cast butterfly the butterfly that was Debbie Shapiro
[17:29] singing the female lead in that and Robert Westenberg
[17:32] With her and then before that for manna la macho one of my favorite potent musicals if people ask me
[17:37] That's one of them in the top ten little bird little bird a short piece
[17:42] But I just I just think it's charming
[17:44] I'm gonna keep going with our theme here today of animals on stage and we're gonna keep going with something from big fish
[17:52] So and then we'll get to the whiz and after that Shrek the musical
[17:56] I hope you're enjoying this and just kind of light-hearted
[18:00] Musicals today all about animals that we love and that hopefully they love us, too
[18:04] What if I told you to change the world? What if I told you you could be a king?
[18:18] Anything you desired boy anything of a plate all within your power to create
[18:25] I know somewhere in the darkness. There's a story meant for me
[18:30] Where I always know exactly what to say
[18:34] I know somewhere some surprising ending waits for me to tell it my own way
[18:43] Be the hero of your story if you can be the champion in the fight not just a man
[18:52] Don't depend on other people to put paper next to pen be the hero of your story boy
[18:59] And then you can rise to be the hero
[19:03] Once again now the best part of an adventure is the people you meet
[19:09] What if I said I met a witch when I was very young?
[19:14] What if I said she showed me how I died?
[19:18] Powerless in the face of it terrified in the woods. That was where my life was changed for good
[19:25] Hey, what if I said I met a giant wasting in a cave?
[19:30] What if I claimed I rose to be far braver than the brave all my life of story son, and everyone is true
[19:38] So believe me as I'm telling you
[19:41] To be the hero of your story while you may be the guy who gets the girl and saves the day
[19:50] You don't need a book of Greeks to teach you how to stay alive
[19:54] Be the hero of each story you derive
[20:00] What if I comes a life that you make where each character comes your friend to make believe what's waiting
[20:16] Around the bed if you understand this premise you will never be alone
[20:34] Swimming in the mist in the first girl that here is what she whispered
[20:58] Now listen son, I want I met this fisherman since you gotta help me if I don't catch a fish
[21:21] My family is gonna start. Mm-hmm. Well, the fish are sleeping. You got to get them moving. Try the Alabama stone
[21:29] What's that?
[21:39] Mm-hmm works every time son. I can't explain
[21:43] Something about this rhythm really gets their fins moving
[21:46] Let's see what you got now. Come on this before now
[22:10] Listen you give a man a fish you feed him for a day you teach a man to fish you feed him for a lifetime
[22:15] Teach a man the Alabama stomp
[23:42] Well, maybe you do we got a stick together
[26:33] When you feel congested
[26:39] When you can now shave it when it gets hairy
[26:50] Don't let me go
[26:57] Don't let me go like butter and grits like cables and dents like yet and gangster man
[27:39] Drang like aang and Chang attached and you like a fat kid on cake
[27:48] Like you've been in psyche like pop rocks and Mikey will stick together like that Velcro stuff
[27:54] I'm the fuzzy side you'll be the spike
[27:57] With those funny things at the bottom, you know
[28:00] And I hope you're enjoying our animals on Broadway or animals on the stage
[28:51] Whichever you prefer today on better living through show tunes. We'll be right back after this message
[29:00] Well, we're back with better living through show tunes after that important message and you heard before the break
[29:08] Don't let me go
[29:09] There was donkey donkey donkey from Shrek the musical that was the original cast recording before that mean old lion
[29:17] if you didn't recognize it it was from the
[29:19] 2024 Broadway cast recording of the whiz and that was Kyle Freeman singing the lion's roll and
[29:26] Prior to that to the start of this segment. We had be the hero from big fish and of course, as I said
[29:33] It's not always about
[29:35] Animals, but the show title might have it in it. So big fish get it
[29:39] Okay, maybe not but we're gonna keep going with shows that I like it shows. I hope you're enjoying
[29:45] This is one from urine town that I really enjoyed and it is be the bunny
[29:50] I kind of just like it. Sometimes I play it at Easter time which upsets people but
[29:55] This is from urine town and you're gonna have some more animal related songs right after that
[30:09] He's nibbling grass without a care
[30:13] He's so delightful as he pops for you
[30:17] You say hi bunny and he stops for you
[30:21] You pull your trigger and he drops for you
[30:24] Goodbye bunny boo
[30:26] Hello rabbit stew
[30:28] Get me boys
[30:32] Don't be the bunny
[30:34] Don't be the stew
[30:36] Don't be the dinner you have better things to do
[30:39] There ain't no joke, that's why it's funny
[30:43] So take your cue
[30:45] Don't be the bunny
[30:47] Don't be the bunny
[30:53] People are animals. Hope dear animals with huge incisors and big flappy feet
[30:59] Look closely you'll see them. I do I see them everywhere
[31:05] a little bunny
[31:08] He needs a measly 50 cents
[31:12] A little bunny didn't plan
[31:17] Simply hasn't got the bread
[31:22] Mercy but gets jail instead hasn't peppers in the air as the bunny gets the chair
[31:32] Don't be the bunny don't be the dope don't be the loser you're much better than that hope
[31:41] You're in the money
[31:43] Advice to you
[31:58] Don't they
[32:02] Live long enough hope dear you see many thing even a daughter doubting her father
[32:14] He thinks he's found a brand-new home
[32:19] So snug and cozy on your closet and then you open up your closet door
[32:26] That bunny in my closet for
[32:29] When I'm mallet and some clippers you find out new bunny slippers grasp the message staff
[32:35] Right behind your boss
[32:37] Don't be the bunny
[32:39] Don't be the shoe
[32:41] Don't get stepped out
[32:43] The one who steps is you
[32:46] Stepped up, sunny

[33:02] Something happened Alice something weird and wonderful
[33:06] I hear a music I have never heard before
[33:12] I feel the waves though. I am nowhere near
[33:16] the shore
[33:19] In the arms of a squid
[33:24] I touched my secret longing
[33:28] All embraced
[33:30] as I faced
[33:32] the world both warm and new
[33:36] In the charms
[33:38] of a squid
[33:40] I lost my inhibitions
[33:44] and found my love
[33:48] For you and in the arms
[33:53] of a squid
[33:56] Tenacled and squishy
[33:59] rearranged
[34:01] I was changed
[34:03] by something sort of fishy
[34:07] Then at once as I hugged
[34:11] a thousand cups of suction
[34:15] I found my love
[34:18] for you
[35:25] You ought to ask mr. Mastoffeleez the original cunt the greatest
[35:33] from mr. Mastoffeleez his conjuring turn
[35:36] and we all say
[35:39] a magical
[36:03] from his ears to the tip of his tail
[36:06] through the tiniest crack he can walk on the narrowest rail
[36:11] He can pick any card from the pack
[36:14] He is equally coming with dice
[36:17] He is always deceiving you into believing that he's only hunting for mice
[36:22] He can play in a trick with a cork
[36:25] on a spoon and a bit of fish paste
[36:27] A knife for a fork you have seen in one moment and then it is gone
[36:36] You'll find it next week lying out on the lawn
[36:39] And we all say
[36:42] So clever as malnourished mr. Mastoffeleez
[37:04] This manna is vague and aloof
[37:06] You would think there was nobody's choice has been heard on the roof
[37:12] When he was curled up by the fire
[37:14] He's sometimes been heard by the fire
[37:17] When he was about on the roof
[37:19] And these we all heard that somebody heard which is
[37:24] Incontestable proof this singular magical power in from the garden for our and
